Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada
Canon Powershot SD500 | 1/200 sec | F/7.1
I recently returned from a nostalgic pilgrimage to the Canadian Rockies where I lived years ago. Although the weather didn’t always cooperate (I even hit a snow storm!), my many good friends who still live there made my visit a memorable journey. Many thanks to you…
Oh yeah — and yesterday was the second anniversary of this fine photoblog! Just like last year, here are some stats for the analytically-minded:
* 281 pictures posted
* 1,995 (non-spam!) comments
* 796,357 visitors
* 5,341,532 hits
* 90 gigabytes downloaded
* 150 dollars in hosting fees
…and the joy derived from blogging — pricele$$! 😉

If this is a cliche, I am more than fine with cliched images. Nothing like that exists here, makes this one all the more refreshing. The red of cause really sets of apart, well that and the clear water, and the huge hills with snow, and…you get my drift.
John Zeweniuk
I love the title! there’s somthing about a Canadian Canoe. That itself is a cliche… and the lined of boats may be a cliche too… Lake Lousie is a photographic cliche and so are the Rockies… but look at how beautiful. I love the shot!
Brad
This is truely an amazing picture. I’d love to have this on my wall. Simply gorgeous!

Congrats on the Year Two milestone!
I am routinely floored by the quality of image that comes from Canon’s little PowerShot cameras – this image is no exception 🙂
anagnorisis

Happy anniversary! I’ve only just found your blog so you’re going to have to keep going!! 😉
There’s a reason shots like this are seen so often. It’s because they’re truly beautiful. Nice one.
Christian Wagner
Amazing, that’s all I can say, amazing!
Richard Clafton
Amazing. Just love the composition and the smoothness of the water. Great shot.

Hi Anne,
this is a very nice shot, seems to me like it was in my head since ever. Good work. Know this lake from advertising photos from German outdoor supplier Jack Wolfskin but didn’t ever imagine that is so stunning.

What a serene setting! The red canoes really make this photo. Nice shot!
Alex
This has been my wallpaper for several months now– the color of the lake, the mountains in the backdrop, the vivid color and arresting shape of the canoes… it soothes me whenever I look at it. Thanks for the awesome pic!
Mandy
*sighs* i really am speechless, my sister in law is canadian and her and my brother and the family went to Canada just a short time ago, and i remember seeing this lake, she had taken a picture of it and i thought for sure it was a backdrop, being an aspiring landscape photographer myself, i was itching to go there and still am! I am in awe of all your photos, and you are very much an inspiration to me, i just recently discovered your works, and i am hooked! to look at your photos, it makes me strive even more to become a photographer, maybe someday i could be just half as good as you are!
