Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China
Canon Digital Rebel XT | ISO 200 | 1/250 sec | F/10
Very fine first day in China visiting Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Note the American flag in the background to celebrate Mr. Bush’s concurrent visit — how often can you expect to see the American flag floating next to the portrait of Mao Zedong on Tiananmen Square??

Love this picture because there’s something interesting in the foreground, middle ground, and background.

Very nice shot. I’m interesting in what the guard was thinking, his girl? or just counting sheeps?
Gary
Very interesting shot – great colors.

There’s something preternaturally uniform about the colors in this picture, like it wasn’t a photograph at all, but rather one of those Soviet-era propaganda posters. But maybe I’m just reading my own prejudices into the picture, eh?
Hope you’re having a great time!

Streaming flags are so nice.

This shot has it all. Great composition, powerful sense of scale and a drop of contemporary history (USA Flag) great shot.
