For those asking, you can see Haystack Rock in the background — a 235-foot tall basal monolith and the third-tallest such structure in the world according to Wikipedia!

Great shot, I love how you’ve lined it up.
What exactly is that in the background?
Geremy F
Very nice shot
Nate
How did you get that camel in the background to lay down that way?
rahul kumar
Eye-catching photograph… Nate’s comment made me smile..
Hugo
Je suis allé là! En 1991! La roche n’a pas bougé!
Pavel
A little irrelevant to the image, but I’d really like to say I love the design and the changing color background. Most people use the whole page’s bg but you were more creative to user only a little part. I think it keeps the desing clean and more professional.
I’m thinking of using either this option or changing the text (links) color in my blog.

Nate’s comment too made me smile. I would love to see this in b&w because I think I’d see more of the texture–there’s a lot of opportunities with this photograph. Now all it needs is a soundtrack: Blackeyed Peas – “My Humps” 😉
Jennifer
I thought that was Haystack! I was just there a few weeks ago. I never got a picture I really liked (of course, it was raining the whole time) – this is very nice. Cool idea.
amanda leigh
great shot.
laurent
Cool, is the monollith climbable? It’s basalt you said? Does it have cracks?
tuan
looks like a great day for a swim on the beach.
ROB
Nice tight framing on the feather. But now you have really got me wondering what the mounds in the background are!
Gary
Nice shot – yes, what is that in the background?
aj
Great texture through out the photo.
Paul
I thought it was a camel too for a moment!
Lovely DOF.

I too was there this summer and struggled to get an interesting shot with the Haystack… Your versopn is very interesting!
