2005Let it snow…
Snow Lake, Washington, USA
Canon PowerShot SD500 | 1/250 sec | F/2.8
Taken yesterday on a fine (albeit wet) journey up Wright Mountain via Snow and Gem Lakes on the West side of Snoqualmie Pass. The trail was free of footsteps as we broke trail through up to 12 inches of slushy snow.
Update: Read Jim’s trail report on the WTA site.

Brilliant framing, the red is striking. Do you go on a different route to the other hikers to get these shots?

I don’t normally follow a different trail — though often I will scoot on ahead, stay behing or simply do a little detour to capture the right image… In this particular case, I saw the log bridge ahead and anticipated a good photo opportunity. I asked my friend Jim (who was sporting the brigthest jacket of my fellow hikers) to go down first and slowly cross the bridge.

Wow. Everytime I visit there’s another completely inspirational, stunning shot up. The red bar on top with this white and green sort of shot really reminds me of christmas.

Incredible…I love it!
David
Amazing scene. The hiker in red is perfect.

Nice. The red jacket against the (almost) monochrome background is interesting. Something that might be fun to try: crop the image just below the log that the skier is standing on. Using Layers in Photoshop, make the whole thing a very contrasty black and white photo, but just leave the skier in color. Might look cool!

This photo truly amazes me. It is absolutely perfect as it almost makes me look forward to snow in Chicago!

Great Picture, the water seem so huge on the picture and the reflection of the mountain was well taken.
